Public Safety Clinical, Field, and Internship Coordinator

Per the NFA Contract, Article 9, TMCC is announcing to all eligible Academic and Administrative faculty that a need exists for a Public Safety Clinical, Field, and Internship Coordinator.

Description

EMT students are required to complete 10 clinical hours and 10 internship hours per student. EMTA students are required to complete 30 clinical hours and 10 internship hours per student. Paramedic students are required to complete 300 clinical or field hours and 480 internship hours per student. The Public Safety Clinical, Field, and Internship Coordinator is responsible for placing and tracking 290+ students at 7+ clinical sites and 20+ internship sites to fulfill their accreditation-required hours. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining 30+ affiliation agreements with hospitals, emergency medical service providers, and fire agencies.

Scope of Work

This position will serve during the 2024–25 academic term. This position will start on July 1, 2024 and end on June 30, 2025.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  1. Primary responsibilities of keeping all agencies with whom we have contracts to make sure TMCC, students, and their needs are being met and that all affiliation agreements are up-to-date and valid.
  2. Work directly with the students in each class to ensure they are signed up and ready for their clinical, ride-along, and or internship time.
  3. Will be working with the hospitals, prehospital services, and students to make their time more beneficial and educational in a supportive and collaborative environment.
  4. Will ensure that our students sign up for clinicals, follow their syllabi, submit their paperwork accurately and on time, and address any issues that may arise
  5. Work with the primary instructors of EMT and AEMT students on sign-ups for their hospital rotations, field ride-along and the paperwork that is part of the process.
  6. Work with the primary instructors of Paramedic students on sign-ups for their clinical rotations, field internship and all of the paperwork that is part of the process both online and offline.
  7. Conduct unannounced site visits to check on the EMS students at all of the clinical facilities and field providers that TMCC has contracts with.
  8. July–August: Coordinator will work with the internship class on finishing their clinical rotations and work with the hospitals to prepare for the upcoming semesters classes.
  9. August–December: Work with the fall classes which include: EMT and Advanced EMT. The Clinical Coordinator will make sure all students are signed up and participating appropriately in the hospital and field setting, as well as, giving and receiving feedback to our field and clinical partners for program improvement and support of their services.
  10. December–June: Work with the spring classes which include: EMT, Advanced EMT, as well as the Full Time Paramedic academy. The Clinical Coordinator will make sure all students are signed up and participating appropriately in the hospital and field setting, as well as, giving and receiving feedback to our field and clinical partners for program improvement and support of their services.
  11. Meet with Academic Advising staff as requested at their monthly all-staff meeting to review program changes/updates and answer questions.

Qualifications

The Public Safety Clinical, Field, and Internship Coordinator must have at least an Associate degree in EMS or related field and at least 3 years experience as a Paramedic within an Organized Fire or EMS Municipality. A valid Nevada State Class B Driver’s License and a Nevada State Paramedic certification are required. Experience with a wide range of clinical, field, and internship organizations preferred.

Compensation

The Public Safety Clinical, Field, and Internship Coordinator will receive 12 units of release time or stipend in the fall of 2024 and 12 units in spring of 2025, and the equivalent of 6 units in summer ending June 30, 2025.
