Description

The Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Program Coordinator (CRJ) is responsible for overseeing and managing the CRJ program and serving as liaison between the College and all students enrolled in the Associates of Arts (AA) in Criminal Justice or the Associates of Applied Science (AAS) in Law Enforcement.

Scope of Work

This position will serve during the fall from Fall 2024.  This additional assignment is not automatically renewed annually.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  1. Faculty and Program
    • Recruit and orient new part-time faculty to program philosophy and mission for in-person instruction, online instruction and expectations.
    • Keep CRJ faculty informed of program changes and updates. 
    • Make sure classes are set for the upcoming semester, finish up staffing, courses changes, and book orders.
    • Ensure part-time faculty receive needed program support and act as a conduit for information flow to and from the Program Director/Dean and CRJ students. Analyze whether we need two HR pools – one for the AAS and one for the transfer courses.
    • Provide critical dates to faculty and ensure CRJ courses are posted and available for students at the beginning of each semester. 
    • Track and revise current and future year course schedule, achieving a balance that ensures courses have a sufficient number of students enrolled and students are able to complete the program in an efficient manner making sure to not overlap with courses offered at UNR – strategic planning for spring 2024.
    • Collaborate with the Program Director for periodic program review and revisions of course material, in alignment with workforce needs and transfer pathways – course by course analysis of the AAS courses and overall AAS degree pathway.
    • Obtain training on the CIM Courseleaf software.
    • Keep Academic Advising staff apprised of changes in courses or scheduling once finalized.
    • Work with TMCC Assessment and Planning staff to implement and track course assessment reviews.
    • Attend community stakeholder meetings to increase awareness of the CRJ program.
    • Develop program marketing materials in coordination with TMCC Marketing and Communications.
    • Coordinate and support twice yearly (minimum) CRJ Program Advisory Committee meetings. Re-establish committee and find members to serve on the committee.
    • Maintain all relevant program records and correspondence.
    • Liaison with local/state sworn CRJ agency chief executives and/or direct reports to develop, nurture, and maintain mutually beneficial professional relationships that further the shared goals of all parties.
    • Represent TMCC as a member of appropriate professional organizations (e.g., Nevada Chiefs and Sheriffs Association / International Association Chiefs of Police).
  2. Student
    • Recruitment through a well-planned and promoted pathway
    • Outreach to declared majors to help them progress.
    • Advise students on CRJ recommended course sequence.
    • Work with Admissions and Records on any documentation and requests for CRJ students. 
    • Keep CRJ students informed of program and course changes, as well as provide notice of CRJ employment opportunities, to include program graduates as applicable.
    • Assist students wishing to complete an internship, by working with the CRJ community to identify internship opportunities and collaborate with the TMCC internship office to facilitate their internship.

Qualifications

The CRJ Program Coordinator must have a Master’s degree in a field related to Criminal Justice from an accredited institution, such as from one of the following areas of study: Business Administration, Business Continuity, Counterterrorism Studies, Emergency Management Administration, Homeland Security Policy, Law Enforcement, Organizational Leadership, Political Science or Public Administration.

Candidates must have a minimum of five years of verifiable full-time CRJ experience with at least an additional two years of CRJ supervisory/management experience. Executive CRJ experience preferred. Applicants with CRJ experience in Northern Nevada desired.

Compensation

The compensation is for 6 credits of release or stipend.
