Working with College departments, the TMCC Marketing and Communications Office creates annual marketing and public relations plans based on department and College goals. This free service includes target audience research, promotions planning and timeline development. Early planning ensures that academic and administrative departments' projects are included in our calendar of projects and completed on time. Please contact us early in your planning process.

Editing and Proofing
Marketing and Communications proofs all documents prior to release to students or the community. This free service is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please plan a 48-hour turnaround.
External Communications and Publications
Marketing and Communications writes, designs, edits and provides print coordination for all College publications that are intended for students and the community prior to release per the TMCC Administrative Manual. This free service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
- TMCC administrative Web page content is reviewed for accuracy, grammar and targeted appeal to audience(s). (see also: Web Publishing Procedures)
- Brochures, fliers, posters, fact sheets, etc. promote TMCC programs.
- Print, radio and television advertisements are part of the marketing mix for College programs and image enhancement.
TMCC sends a variety of electronic newsletters (e-newsletters) each week. Contact us for more information.
TMCC faculty and staff directory (people.tmcc.edu) lists the name, title, address, telephone and fax numbers of College employees.
To build your skills in talking to reporters, Marketing and Communications provides coaching, including mock interviews and on-camera workshops. We'll advise you on speech, dress and presentation. To arrange a training session, please contact us.
Each year, Marketing and Communications distributes hundreds of news releases covering subjects such as national honors, major upcoming events, new degree and certificate programs, success stories and community service projects. Online copies of the press releases are available.
Marketing and Communications staff also uses emails, meetings and phone calls to interest reporters, writers and editors in feature stories about the College. We will do all we can to secure publicity, but we cannot guarantee media coverage because competition for news space in Northern Nevada is great.

News Conferences and Media Interviews
News conferences represent one way to handle a major announcement of interest to several reporters. In some instances, an interview is requested following our release of a story on a new program or major event. Marketing and Communications will arrange interviews with the media on your behalf.
Responses to Reporters
Marketing and Communications fields dozens of media-related calls and electronic queries each quarter, providing assistance on stories, help in arranging interviews, names of experts, etc.
College Events and Activities
Photographs have a variety of uses, including print and web publications. Good opportunities for taking photographs include dynamic guest speakers, student organization events, unusual experiments and presentations. Please do not hesitate to schedule photography, even if there is not an immediate need for the photos. Photos are archived for use in future projects.
Please contact us to take photographs of College events and activities. Every attempt will be made to accommodate your photography needs. We request advance notice for scheduling photography; we recommend a minimum of 48-hour notice.
TMCC's Marketing and Communications Office offers opportunities for faculty and staff portrait photos. Employee portraits are used in the employee directory and are also featured on some departmental web pages. We provide monthly open studio hours for drop-in photography.
