Steps to Enroll: New Degree-Seeking Students

These Steps to Enroll for New Degree-Seeking Students were developed to support your success at TMCC. If you are seeking a degree and have never been to college, including TMCC, you must complete these steps before you can register for classes.

  1. Apply for Admission
Complete a TMCC Application for Admission and view important dates and deadlines. If you have questions, please contact the Admissions and Records Office.
  2. Apply for Financial Aid
Get help with your college expenses by completing the online FAFSA by these priority deadlines: July 1 for Fall, Dec. 1 for Spring, and April 1 for Summer. TMCC offers many sources of financial aid. In addition to completing your FAFSA, check out these scholarship options and resources. If you have any questions or need assistance, contact the Financial Aid Office
  3. Complete New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation is completed online and provides information on the catalog, English and math placement, how to enroll, what classes to take, and preparation for your first semester.
  4. Register and Pay for Classes
Class registration and payment are completed through MyTMCC using your TMCC username and password. Check out our payment options for additional resources.

Recommended Steps for Success

  1. Know Your Username and Password
You will use your TMCC username and password to log in to MyTMCC, Canvas, and your TMCC student email. If you need assistance with your username or password and you know your Student ID number, visit the online self-service tools. If you do not know your Student ID number or would like additional registration assistance, contact New Student Services at 775-673-7111.
  2. Log On and Get To Know Canvas
Canvas is TMCC’s online student learning management system. New Student Orientation and many of your college professors use Canvas to provide instruction. Need Canvas assistance? Complete the Getting Started with WebCollege tutorial.
  3. Take a Placement Test (if needed)
English placement and math placement at TMCC has changed, and you may be able to place into the course you need for your degree using your recent high school transcript or alternate pathways, if you graduated within two years prior to the term you are applying. If you require a placement test, check out our Testing Services available, and schedule an appointment online.
