Introduction

On behalf of the instructors and staff, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you as a member of our Adult Basic Education Program community. We thank you for choosing our program and trusting us to deliver services that will set you up on your career and educational path. We invite you to stay in the program while you achieve your goals as long as you continually demonstrate progress and an ability to benefit from our program. Our classes are designed to build your foundational skills to get a job, earn a high school equivalency certificate, retain a job, or transition to college or training. Through your coursework and coaching, we can help you to discover your personal and professional goals.

We understand that some of you may be returning to school after 10+ years, so we are committed to ensuring you a positive environment that is supportive and conducive to adult learning. We offer flexible schedules to meet the demands of your everyday commitments. We will make reasonable accommodations to help you succeed and eliminate possible barriers that affect your ability to achieve your goals. In return, we ask that you commit to your schedule and make all efforts to prepare yourself beyond the classroom. Together, we can create your opportunities!

About the Handbook

This handbook is for Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program students and provides information regarding policies, procedures, available resources, and concerns to student academic life. It also outlines the rights and responsibilities of the students.

These policies and any additional ABE Program policies and procedures relative to student records, publications, grievances, and discipline, are consistent with the Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. Policies and procedures governing all TMCC students are available in the TMCC College Catalog.

This handbook serves for informational purposes only. A paper copy may be referenced in our main office.
