On-Campus Tailgating Guidelines

These rules establish guidelines for organizing and conducting on-campus tailgating events at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). Tailgating events provide an opportunity for students, faculty, staff and visitors to come together, show support for college teams, and foster a sense of community and camaraderie.

These rules apply to all individuals and groups organizing or participating in tailgating events held on TMCC’s campus premises.

Thank you for your participation! Here are some guidelines for you to follow as you enjoy this event:

Designated Tailgating Areas

  • Tailgating activities should take place at the Dandini Campus in the East Lot only. This parking lot will open for tailgating on game day, Sept. 23 at 8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. RV’s may park on Friday evening after 5 p.m. Tailgating is not permitted after the conclusion of the final game. All vehicles must exit the lot no later than one hour following the conclusion of the final game of the day.
  • All tailgaters will be responsible for clean-up of their areas.
  • Restrooms are located in the tailgating area and next to the entrance to the soccer field.
  • No pets are allowed in the tailgating area or inside the soccer field, other than service animals.
  • Professional grade sound systems are prohibited.

Safety and Security

  • This event will have a University Police Department presence (Policy 5114).
  • Emergency contact information and first aid resources will be available at the designated safety tent.
  • Drive aisles and fire lanes need to be kept clear at all times for free access of emergency vehicles.
  • Tents may not obstruct sidewalks, walkways or fire lanes.
  • Tents must be secured by the owner. The college will not provide weights or other anchors. No tent poles or stakes may be driven into the ground. Tents cannot be anchored to any permanent fixture (light poles, trees).

Alcohol Policy

See policies 5440 and 5114.

  • Alcohol consumption is allowed only in compliance with Nevada State Laws and college policies.
  • All participants must be of legal drinking age and should consume responsibly.
  • No alcohol consumption is permitted outside of the designated tailgating area.
  • No sale of alcohol is permitted.
  • Excessive amounts of alcohol and binge drinking are strictly prohibited.
  • No kegs or common sources of alcohol; this includes any drinking apparatus, such as a “beer bong.”
  • No alcohol in the soccer stadium.
  • Alcohol can only be consumed during tailgating hours.
  • No public intoxication or disorderly conduct (subject to ejection or prosecution).

Open Grill Rules

  • Designated Areas:
    • Open grilling is only allowed in designated tailgating areas as specified by the college administration.
  • Fire Safety Precautions:
    • Grills must be placed on a stable and non-combustible surface, at least 15 feet away from any flammable materials, including tents, vehicles, and other tailgating equipment.
    • Fire extinguisher will be available at the safety tent.
    • Grills must be attended at all times while in use, and never left unattended.
    • Grilling under tents is prohibited.
    • Propane tanks used for gas grills must be within their expiration date and properly secured to prevent tipping or rolling and must be disposed of off campus. (Pack it in, pack it out)
    • Spare propane tanks should be stored away from grills and other heat sources.
    • Hot coals must be properly disposed of in designated coal containers located in the East Lot.

Compliance with College Policies

  • Attendees must also adhere to general NSHE and TMCC policies as published in the TMCC Policy Manual.

Enforcement

  • Non-compliance with this policy may result in the suspension of future tailgating privileges or other appropriate disciplinary actions.
  • These guidelines shall be reviewed periodically to ensure its effectiveness and relevance to TMCC's evolving needs and priorities.
  • These rules are subject to change based on the college administration's discretion and fire safety regulations.
