Pre-registration is required for this workshop. This session will cover all Canvas topics in one day. In this session you’ll learn the basic features of Canvas including: Global Navigation, Preferences, and creating content to include: Modules, Files, Assignments, Quizzes, Discussions, Grades, and Incorporating Rubrics. This is the mandatory training faculty need to complete to teach online.

New Google Sites for Faculty Webpages

Learn how to use this super easy Google Sites platform to build and maintain a faculty website quickly, without knowing HTML or installing software! Google Sites is an online website publishing tool that allows faculty to create a template-driven web page from scratch for classroom purposes. Post information about yourself, your contact info and office hours, your teaching philosophy, course syllabi, links to Canvas, etc. You’ll definitely want a public facing faculty web page for students to check out while they’re shopping around for classes!

Tips & Tricks to Online Course Design: Increasing Interactivity and Student Engagement

Pre-registration is required for this workshop. This two-week workshop will explore the significance of developing a clear communication plan for your online classroom. Levels of student engagement and success can stem from clearly expressing expectations for student and instructor interaction throughout the course. Learning activities and assignments provide ideal opportunities for interaction and relationship building, which is critical to creating a sense of community in an online course. This workshop will also share tips and tricks for stepping away from mundane discussion boards and anticlimactic online assignments in the online classroom. The facilitator will contact registrants with access information.

A $150 stipend will be issued upon successful completion. Please register by January 15, 2021.

Facilitating an Effective Synchronous (Web Live) Course

An introduction to the Packback discussion platform. Packback is an AI supported discussion platform that encourages genuine curiosity, improves critical thinking, and writing skills. The Nevada Promise Scholarship gives students the opportunity to attend college almost debt-free! To earn a Nevada Promise Scholarship students complete requirements such as community service, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and meet with a mentor.
