Year of Sustainability

Sustainable

In 2022/2023 our FREE community theme is Year of Sustainability. It will focus on intergenerational equity with ecological stewardship of the environment, economy, and cultures. Students, faculty, and staff will implement sustainability in two ways:

  • Infrastructure: Bee Campus USA, renewable energy, and native plants.
  • Campus Community: Culturally relevant activities in all courses and committees across the curriculum and site locations. 

This Fall and Spring of 2023, join our series of workshops, book clubs, keynote speakers, performances, research projects, course assignments, and collaborative events to transform Earth Day into the Year of Sustainability. More information will be posted here as it becomes available.

FREE's Year of Sustainability integrates into Sustainability Champions and the TMCC ArtsFest, culminating on Earth Day with interactive booths and the bee garden ribbon-cutting relay.

It Pays to be Green: Who Says Money Doesn't Grow on Trees?

Diversity Circle for Sustainability
Rain Donohue and Micaela Rubalcava facilitate a workshop to explore how to grow student-centered sustainability by asking big-picture questions in the circle process.
When: Jan. 12, 2023, at 3:30–5 p.m.

Sustainability Champions Earth Day Planning Meeting
Cecilia Vigil facilitates a Sustainability Champions Earth Day planning meeting.

Art Therapy: Make Your Own Earth Day Tiles!
Candace Garlock & Micaela Rubalcava facilitate a workshop. This is a fun & messy activity to make Earth Day tiles to display on the Mindful Manzanita Mosaics.

The Big Earth Day
