Join TMCC for the World’s Biggest Day of Generosity
TMCC is looking forward to participating in GivingTuesday again this year in support of our students. GivingTuesday is a global day of giving on Nov. 29 that falls just after Thanksgiving and provides awareness for important causes such as TMCC’s Student Emergency Resource Fund. This year, we have a goal of raising $15,000 in support of TMCC students who are in tremendous need.
Just like all of us, our students have been affected by rising prices. Inflation is impacting students significantly since the necessities they rely on, including gas, groceries and housing cost much more than just a year ago. As a result, many students are reaching out to TMCC for assistance. Once all other options are explored, students can turn to our Student Emergency Resource Fund for emergency needs, allowing them to continue in their coursework.
Last year alone, 52 students received emergency funds totaling $91,000. Due to limited funds this year, we have only been able to fund 14 requests totaling $22,500. Sadly, the fund has less than $100 remaining and we will be unable to fund future requests unless we receive more donations.
- This year, we have been able to help students like Sophie who needed to move out of her condo since her landlord decided to sell the condo she was living in. The Emergency Fund was able to help Sophie and her daughter with temporary housing until she could find a new place for them to live.
- Another student, Owen, cares for his elderly parents and was unable to attend class when his car broke down. He did not have the funds to repair his car so he turned to the TMCC Emergency Resource Fund. As a result, Owen repaired his car and was able to attend class again.
Funds raised through Tuesday, Nov. 29 will provide much needed financial assistance for students who will benefit from emergency funds to continue with their coursework.
Thank you for your support!
