It’s finally here! Graduation day has instilled pure joy into the hearts and minds of our students, and Truckee Meadows Community College is thrilled to honor the Class of 2023 during the Annual Commencement Ceremony at Lawlor Events Center, 1664 N. Virginia Street on Friday, May 12. The proceedings will begin at 4:30 p.m., so be sure to arrive early!

It is tremendously rewarding to witness your loved one bloom on that stage. They’ll raise their hands triumphantly with a degree or certificate firmly in their grasp, faces glowing at the promise of a brighter future!

There was no shortage of outstanding achievements throughout the year, so let’s take this moment to reflect on all the successes these students have strived diligently for.

Ambition Is the Path, Perseverance Is the Vehicle

We welcome all walks of life at TMCC, and that’s why a spectacular sensation of pride fills the air when we celebrate such a diverse collection of individuals who bring their unique perspectives and talent to any number of our programs. Creators, innovators, and trailblazers in their respective fields, they’ll enter the workforce eager to shape a better tomorrow, and we’re humbled to be the institution they entrusted with their education.

A total of 1,176 students are candidates for graduation this year, numbering a grand sum of 1,298 degrees or certificates! The numbers speak for themselves:

As college life ends and the dawn of university rises for many, it’s a pleasant experience to relive the memories shared with your peers and professors cultivated over your academic career. Embrace your history at TMCC, and know that your presence alone is a brilliant example of what sheer determination can reward you with, encouraging others to follow in your footsteps.

The connections you’ve developed in these classrooms and hallways serve a greater purpose, one that intends to endure throughout your professional journey. Wherever the world may take you, trust that you have friends at TMCC who are rooting for you!

Diversity is paramount to our institution’s character, and accessibility and affordability transcend continents when pursuing higher education. We are pleased to announce that the qualities of this year’s campus melting pot include:

All our graduates are superstars, but a couple went the extra mile in their academic and personal endeavors to act in service of our communities.

Gabrielle Amistani is the recipient of the Sam Lieberman Regents’ Award for Student Scholarship in 2023! After graduating with an Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degree, Amistani is seeking her bachelors in mechanical engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno. Upon completion, she will continue to work toward her master's. She volunteers to teach softball to children with disabilities and regularly assists 50-100 students as a Supplemental Instructor (SI) at the Tutoring and Learning Center. Her ultimate dream is to acquire a position at NASA or SpaceX, applying her talent as an aerospace engineer who works on satellites and rockets.

Courtney Meredith distinguished herself as the 2023 TMCC Alumna of the Year! Spanning a 25-year career as the co-owner of Design on the Edge, a creative services and brand specialist organization, Meredith has received recognition for her commitment to the graphic designing industry with multiple awards. A boutique family-owned firm, Design on the Edge is revolutionizing its field through inclusive, thoughtful, and passionate approaches to projects across Northern Nevada and beyond.

Family, friends, and colleagues will be beaming with bliss when they see you cross the threshold between student and graduate!
