Alexander is a professional counselor and a tenure-track academic faculty member at TMCC. Alexander was born and raised in Iowa. He completed a master’s of arts in clinical mental health counseling at Gonzaga University and is finishing his Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision at UNR. Alexander’s counseling experience ranges from young adults through people across the lifespan. His passion is in working with individuals in the LGBTGEQIAP+ community, particularly transgender and non-binary individuals. Alexander also has experience and passion for working with people who experience depression, anxiety, and who have experienced sexual violence. Alexander approaches counseling through a person-centered & narrative therapy style, believing everyone is capable of re-authoring their life story. He helps students recognize their strengths and prioritizes creating a safe therapeutic relationship above all else. In his free time, Alexander loves running and creative writing/reading fantasy novels. He is also an enormous Disney fan.
