* This event has been canceled. *
The 46th Student Art & Design Exhibition will once again fill the gallery walls at Truckee Meadows Community College. The show will be on display April 8–May 6, 2020, offering students the opportunity to experience the professional—or, public—side of art while sharing their work with TMCC and the community.
The artist reception and awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday April 8 from 5–7 p.m. in the Red Mountain Building, Student Center. Cash prizes are awarded by TMCC and Nevada Fine Arts gives out special recognition awards. In addition to honoring students awarded for work, the reception will feature a special presentation by show juror, Nicole V. Miller.
Nicole Miller is a mixed media artist with a focus in digital media. She holds an MFA in painting from Western Michigan Universities, Gwen Frostic School of Art and received her Bachelor of Art in digital media and painting from University of Nevada, Reno. She currently teaches in the digital media program at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Miller's current work acts to connect her own corporeal body to both digital technologies and cultural context. She examines themes of risk taking, strength, passivity and physicality as they relate to her and to women more generally. She sees her work overall as a vehicle for storytelling.
The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
