Jump Start Your Way To College Early, at an Affordable Price!

Explore Jump Start's benefits:

  • Tuition discounts and Fees (for Nevada residents):
    • For Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 Semesters: Jump Start students who are enrolled in a concurrent class will be charged $75 per class with no additional fees. (Note: Concurrent is defined as having a high school instructor teach a TMCC class in person at the high school through their regular workload. If you do not know if your high school offers this mode, please contact us.)
    • An additional tuition discount is available for high school students who receive free and reduced lunch. If you believe you qualify for this discount, please contact your high school counselor or administrator. Your counselor or administrator will need to submit a form on your behalf.
    • For all other class(es), despite class mode, students will be charged $85 per credit plus technology per credit fee and any special class fee if applicable. Jump Start students will have the following fees waived:
      • Application fee is waived!
      • Student Association per credit fee is waived!
      • Health and Sports per credit fee is waived!
      • Academic Success Initiatives Fee is waived!
  • You can earn college and high school credit at the same time. Check with your high school counselor to see if a TMCC class will count towards your high school graduation or elective requirement.
  • College classes are offered in various formats, including Web Course (Asynchronous), Web Live (synchronous), Hybrid, or In-person.
  • Access to TMCC student support services, such as tutoring, advisement, and TMCC's Sports and Fitness Center while taking classes at TMCC.
  • Gain college experience!

Jump Start Program Facts

  • Applying for Admission: Students must start by completing TMCC's Admissions Application. Students will receive an acceptance letter with their TMCC information within 3-7 business days. Note: Upon completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, students wishing to pursue a degree at TMCC must reapply for admissions as degree-seeking students.
  • Registration Process: Registrations are processed through the Jump Start Program. Students must complete the Permission to Enroll: High School Students form every semester as a high school student. It takes 3-5 business days to process that form after approval is granted by the high school counselor or administrator. The process will be delayed if the form is incomplete.
  • Schedule Changes: Students will have an "Under 18 Years Old" hold on their account preventing any schedule changes. Students must contact us through their TMCC email address to request schedule changes (e.g., dropping a class, etc.). Requests for schedule changes must be made 3-5 days in advance of all TMCC's Dates and Deadlines. Students are responsible for understanding add/drop deadlines, which are firm.
  • Fees: Students are responsible for all registration fees and other mandatory fees.
  • High School Requirements: It is the student's responsibility to understand how TMCC classes can be used to complete high school requirements, by working with their counselor. Only high school students qualify for dual credit.
  • Dual Credit: TMCC will send unofficial TMCC transcripts 2–3 weeks after grades post only for school districts or high schools that have entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Jump Start Program.
  • Disability Resource Center (DRC): The DRC can help you request reasonable accommodations and services to remove barriers to your access and make your College experience a successful one. Accommodations are not transferrable from high school to college. Students must contact the DRC to request accommodations.

Jump Start Cohort Classes

Jump Start cohort classes for dual credit ("dual credit" means you earn college credit while simultaneously earning high school credit) have reserved enrollment for a specific group of students and are typically taught at a high school site by TMCC faculty.

Jump Start Concurrent Classes

Jump Start concurrent classes are college level courses typically taught at a high school or online by a qualified high school instructor.

Check with your high school counselor to learn if your high school is offering any Jump Start cohort or concurrent classes there. If the answer is no, or you would like a wider selection of college classes, then J2TMCC is the program for you!

Jump Start to TMCC (J2TMCC)

J2TMCC welcomes individual students to take college classes for individual accomplishment, dual credit, get a head start to college, or all of the above.
