Students and musicians who are not beginners and are participating in one of the TMCC music ensembles can take private lessons for college credit at TMCC. Our applied instructors are all highly qualified and sought after working professional musicians and educators from the Reno area. For those at the beginning level, group lessons are offered for piano, guitar and voice.
TMCC offers a variety of music classes to meet the needs of degree seeking students as well as those who are interested in expanding their musical knowledge. Appreciation and history classes are available in traditional Western European (classical), American pop, jazz and rock music. Music theory is offered at five different levels and complemented with classes in sight singing and ear training, and composition.
TMCC music ensembles and many classes meet at the Nell J. Redfield Foundation Performing Arts Center (RPAC) located at 505 Keystone Ave. The 250-seat theater is our main performance venue and the music lab is housed in this facility. Most of the music appreciation and history classes are held at the Dandini Campus.
