Sterile Processing Technician Program Coordinator

Per the NFA Contract, Article 10, TMCC is announcing to all eligible employees that a need exists for a Sterile Processing Technician Program Coordinator.

Description

The Sterile Processing Technician Program Coordinator will (1) coordinate the course scheduling, the student application process, and the instructors and sites involved in the Sterile Processing Technician program, (2) recruit and orient part-time faculty in the program, and (3) coordinate all Sterile Processing Technician program activities.  

Scope of Work

The curriculum developer position serves during the academic term 2022–2023 starting on July 1, 2022 and ending on June 30, 2023 as 6 units of release or stipend. This additional assignment is not automatically renewed annually.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  1. Assist with the development and oversight of the scheduling of the program.
  2. Assist with the development and oversight of procedures for admission to and dismissal from the program.
  3. Select, supervise, and evaluate such number of qualified instructors as is necessary to carry out the program.
  4. Arrange adequate educational facilities for training in sterile processing, including clinical facilities.
  5. Work with existing TMCC services, faculty and staff to ensure operation of the sterile processing technician program.
  6. Assist with program recruitment and with the evaluation of program outcomes.
  7. Orient and train new faculty to the operations, including ordering of supplies, disposal of waste, etc.
  8. Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission and goals of Truckee Meadows Community College.
  9. Maintain sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students.
  10. Comply with published college policies and procedures.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Accountability

At the end of the semester, the coordinator will provide a written report that details progress and activities to the Dean. The report will describe progress on each deliverable, including any peer observations conducted on part time instructors and assessment reports completed. All teaching observations of part time instructors must be posted to the Canvas site.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Current TMCC employee, full-time or part-time.
  • Preferred: One-year teaching experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in Surgical Technology and/or Sterile Processing in a professional setting.

Compensation

This assignment is a $2,550 stipend for the Fall 2022 semester and $2,550 stipend for the Spring 2023 semester. This additional assignment is supported by a set dollar amount which cannot be directed towards release time. Paying a stipend is the only reasonable compensation.

The Life Sciences, Allied Health and Public Safety Division Dean.
