NV INBRE STEM Liaison

Per the NFA Contract, Article 10, TMCC is announcing to all eligible Academic and Administrative faculty that a need exists for up to three NV INBRE STEM Liaisons for the Success First Summer Bridge Program.

Description

Provide STEM activities for students in the 2019 Success First Program.

Scope of Work

Summer 2019 from Monday, June 24 to Thursday, July 25. For each activity, the work will occur in one week, with approximately 40 hours of work time (including prep and classroom time).

Responsibilities and Deliverables

 

  1. Plan and prepare materials and implement 1–3 STEM activities. There will be a total of three (3) activities to be divided among hired liaisons. Each activity will be repeated between 5–7 times over the course of a single week. Must be able to work one week between June 24 and July 25, 2019 for each activity assigned. Liaisons may choose to implement activities already established by the STEM coordinators or can plan their own activities, upon approval.

  2. Participate in Success First faculty/staff meeting on Tuesday 12–1pm of the week in which the STEM activity is being implemented.

  3. Coordinate with EPY instructors for STEM activity schedule.

  4. Assist STEM coordinator in lunch activities and student support.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a STEM or STEM-related field.
  2. Ability to work at least one week during June 24–July 25, 2019, during the Success First 2019 Summer Bridge program.
  3. Enthusiasm for the STEM field!

Preferred Qualifications

  1. A Master’s degree or higher in a STEM or STEM-related field.
  2. Previous experience working with a summer bridge or similar program.
  3. Teaching experience in a STEM or STEM-related field.

Compensation

Stipend of $2000 per activity (a total of 3 activities to be divided among liaisons hired).

STEM Co-Coordinators: Adine Stormoen and Meeghan Gray.

Interested faculty will submit a letter of interest describing special qualifications and background information no later than 5 p.m. on May 20, 2019.

The letter should be addressed to Meeghan Gray, NV INBRE STEM Co-Coordinator for Summer Bridge Program. NOTE: Administrative faculty must include a documented plan for separation of the additional assignment work from regular work time.

Selection Process

The STEM Co-Coordinator Meeghan Gray will notify applicants of the hiring decision on or before May 21, 2019.
