Math Corequisite Coordinator

Per the NFA Contract, Article 10, TMCC is announcing to all eligible Academic and Administrative faculty that a need exists for a Math Corequisite Coordinator.

Scope of Work

This position will serve the 2022–2023 academic year.  The assignment will cover 172 contract days of the academic year.  The position requires an estimated 100 hours total on-campus work, or approximately 3 hours/week on-campus work for the academic year during contract days, in addition to any regularly scheduled office hours for the Fall and Spring semester.  The coordinator shall also be responsive to emails on a regular basis during contract days. This additional assignment is not automatically renewed annually.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  1. Develop and lead, in coordination with the department chair, onboarding and training of Math part-time faculty.  
  2. Schedule and lead the Community of Practice faculty sessions for Math support faculty and maintain records of meetings and attendance.
  3. Act as liaison, when needed, between math support instructors and gateway faculty.
  4. Assist the department chair in scheduling and conducting observations of part-time math faculty. 
  5. Coordinate meetings and sharing the observations with part-time faculty and with the department chair.  New part-time faculty will be observed once per first semester of teaching, and then once every three years. thereafter, unless concerns arise.  If concerns arise, a follow-up observation will be conducted the subsequent semester.  
  6. Make available to the department chair the schedule of planned observations, ensure all observations are signed and filed appropriately.
  7. Work with part-time faculty to ensure common standards across the math curriculum.
  8. Assist in providing any professional development for math part-time faculty.
  9. Update an maintain the Math department part-time handbook.
  10. Write a final report of performed duties and outcomes.
  11. Other duties agreed to with department chair and/or dean.

Qualifications

  • Current TMCC full-time Math faculty
  • Gateway Math and Math Corequisite support teaching experience 
  • Be familiar with the Math Department and its implementation of Corequisite support for college-level math courses
  • Proven organization, written, and communication skills
  • Proven skills in leading professional development
  • Proven skills in course development using Canvas

Compensation

3 credits stipend or release time per semester (Fall and Spring)

Interested faculty will submit a letter of interest describing special qualifications and background information no later than 5 p.m. on April 27, 2022.

The letter should be addressed to Anne Flesher, Math and Physical Sciences Dean. NOTE: Administrative faculty must include a documented plan for separation of the additional assignment work from regular work time.

The Dean will notify applicants of the hiring decision on or before May 4, 2022.
