Description

Under the supervision of the Dean of Business and Social Sciences, the Good Jobs Challenge Grant Liaison & Support Specialist will be responsible for connecting with northern Nevada employers in the logistics industry to encourage and invite them to participate in the Good Jobs Challenge grant employer roundtable meetings.

Scope of Work

The Good Jobs Challenge Grant Liaison and Support Specialist will serve as the liaison and support specialist for the Spring 2023 Semester, with a bulk of the assignment to occur during the first 4–6 weeks of the term prior to a full-time grant manager hire. The position will entail approximately 50–60 hours of work. This additional assignment is not automatically renewed.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Meet with logistics company hiring managers throughout all of northern Nevada to provide awareness of the Good Jobs Challenge Grant. 
  • Recruit northern Nevada employers from each county to participate in and attend employer round-table meetings.
  • Recruit employers to assist in enrollment efforts and outreach strategies for the various logistics programs.
  • Obtain employer feedback regarding curriculum, efforts to grow and improve the logistics program, and ways to produce qualified graduates to grow the workforce.
  • Some travel within northern Nevada to meet with business leaders and attend employer roundtables is required. All travel expenses/mileage will be covered. 

Qualifications

Current TMCC employee. Preference will be given to those with a background in logistics or to those who are currently employed with the business department. Must have own transportation.

Compensation

Monetary stipend of $2,550.

Interested faculty will submit a letter of interest describing special qualifications and background information no later than 5 p.m. on Feb. 8, 2023.

The letter should be addressed to Amy Williams, Dean of Business and Social Sciences. Note: Administrative faculty must include a documented plan for separation of the additional assignment work from regular work time.

The Dean of Business and Social Sciences will notify applicants of the hiring decision on or before Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023.
