Foreign Language Placement Specialist

Per the NFA Contract, Article 10, TMCC is announcing to all eligible Academic and Administrative faculty that a need exists for a Foreign Language Placement Specialist.

Description

This position evaluates students for Spanish/French fluency and places students in the appropriate classes.

Scope of Work

3–5 hours per week during the 5 weeks before the beginning of each semester (July 15–Aug. 20 and Dec. 30–Jan. 25).

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  1. Evaluates students for language fluency.
  2. Places students in appropriate Spanish or French classes.
  3. Evaluates student transcripts for placement.
  4. Other related duties (as needed).

Qualifications

Master’s degree in foreign language acquisition or foreign language literature.

Compensation

1 credit release or $850.00 stipend per semester.

Chair of Humanities Department, Rick Bullis

Interested faculty will submit a letter of interest describing special qualifications and background information no later than 5 p.m. on July 22, 2021.

The letter should be addressed to Rick Bullis, Chair of Humanities. NOTE: Administrative faculty must include a documented plan for separation of the additional assignment work from regular work time.

Selection Process

The Dean(s) will notify applicants of the hiring decision on or before July 23.
