English Corequisite Curriculum Developer

Per the NFA Contract, Article 10, TMCC is announcing to all eligible Academic and Administrative faculty that a need exists for English Corequisite Curriculum Developers (3 positions).

Description

The English Corequisite Curriculum Developer(s) will work as a group to a) generate teaching materials for part-time faculty and b) develop student support materials including but not limited to content videos that can be used across Eng 100 sections as requested/needed by individual faculty. ENG 100 is a course taught within the English Department at TMCC.  Offerings include multiple sections and formats on different days and times to meet student need, including traditional on-campus/in-person, Web (asynchronous), Web-Live (synchronous), and late start sections.  This work is designed to assist with department consistency in delivery of curriculum and to supplement current wrap around services utilized by corequisite students. Curriculum development will take place during Summer 2022, with access to these materials available to faculty and students for Fall 2022.  

Scope of Work

This is a summer assignment that will involve working as a group via Zoom and on occasion in person filming of content.  The assignment will begin June 1, 2022 and will end August 5, 2022.  This additional assignment is not renewable.  This position is expected to perform at least 45 hours of curriculum development during Summer 2022.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

Develop course content, assignments and assessments for Eng 100 Composition, based on formats described above.  Develop materials, including assignments and sample syllabi using department learning outcomes as a guide. Develop a “video lecture handbook” of key skills and concepts for student use. Develop with research librarians an Eng 100 library guide listing free resources that faculty might use for their sections to supplement default textbook. Ensure that the resources meet all course objectives and learning outcomes.

Accountability

Delivery date/implementation of the curriculum is Fall 2022.  At the end of Summer 2022, the curriculum developer group will provide a written report that details progress and activities to the Dean of Liberal Arts and have the materials ready to share with the English Department prior to the start of Fall 2022.

Qualifications

The ideal candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • Current TMCC faculty (teaching or administrative)
  • One year of full-time teaching experience 
  • Direct experience teaching Eng 100
  • Master’s degree in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or Literature 

Compensation

This assignment is a $2550 stipend (grant funded) for Summer 2022.

The Chair of the English Department.

Note: Administrative faculty must include a documented plan for separation of the additional assignment work from regular work time.

The Liberal Art Dean in consultation with the Department Chair will notify applicants of the hiring decision on or before May 31, 2022.
