EMT/EMTA Coordinator

Per the NFA Contract, Article 10, TMCC is announcing to all eligible Academic and Administrative faculty that a need exists for an EMT/EMTA (Emergency Medical Technician/Emergency Medical Technician Advanced) Coordinator.

Description

The EMT/EMTA Coordinator reports to the Public Safety Director. The position is responsible for assisting the developing and maintaining of curriculum, scheduling, and oversight of part-time instructors and instructional assistants for EMT and EMTA courses.  The position requires collaboration with other EMS faculty in developing and maintaining courses and selecting course materials, and in participation in advisement of students.

Scope of Work

This position will serve during the 2022–23 academic term starting on July 1, 2022 and ending on June 30, 2023 as 6 units of release or overload time. This additional assignment is not automatically renewed annually.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of TMCC educational programs in EMT and EMTA.
  • Helps evaluate part-time instructors and instructor assistant performance, provides feedback, and develops instructor assistant remediation plans with the program director.
  • Participates in continuing professional development programs such as, but not limited to, NAEMT or AHA, as appropriate.
  • Adheres to established TMCC policies and procedures and respects the diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Participates in activities that promote the TMCC’s EMT and EMTA programs, including instructor and instructor assistant recruitment, coordination of volunteers, program marketing and student advisement.
  • Participates in course assessments and curriculum mapping for EMT and EMTA programs.
  • Helps manage and coordinate the EMS Club within the Public Safety Department.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualification and Competencies

Current Paramedic License, certified Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Medical Technician Instructor.  Work and instructional experience in the field of emergency medical services.

Ability to collaborate, take initiative, and maintain high standards.  

Compensation

The EMS/EMTA Coordinator will receive 3 units of release or overload time for the Fall 2022 semester and 3 units of release or overload time for the Spring 2023 semester.

Reports To

The Director of Public Safety.

Interested faculty will submit a letter of interest describing qualifications and background information as soon as possible or no later than 5 p.m. on May 6, 2022.

The letter should be addressed to Mike Schulz, Director of Public Safety. NOTE: Administrative faculty must include a documented plan for separation of the additional assignment work from regular work time.

The Life Sciences, Allied Health and Public Safety Division Dean will notify applicants of the hiring decision on or before May 20, 2022.
