Course Coordinator for Counseling

Per the NFA Contract, Article 10, TMCC is announcing to all eligible Academic and Administrative faculty that a need exists for a/an Course Coordinator for Counseling.

Description

The coordinator is to assist the Executive Director of Student Life with the following support as related to the Counseling department courses. 

Scope of Work

This assignment will begin July 1, 2022, and will end June 30, 2023; with approximately 90 work hours/semester (180 work hours/year). 

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  1. Ensure that part-time instructors are of the highest quality. The coordinator will coordinate issues related to part-time instructors involving:
    1. Recruitment and recommendations for hire including reference checks. 
    2. Providing mentorship through the following types of activities: feedback, course objectives and outcomes, classroom management concerns, resources available for their classroom, professional development, etc. 
    3. Conduct peer observations and share observations with the instructor and the Director. 
  2. Assessment processes must be ensured. In this aim the coordinator will:
    1. Assist in the development, collection and analysis of established program and general education assessment data and produce an annual report based on these findings.
    2. Develop, revise and review assessment guidelines and procedures as necessary.
    3. Work with faculty senate committees to ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.
  3. Coordinate textbook and other ancillary material orders. Ensure that each course is using up-to-date and high-quality textbooks.
  4. In conjunction with all full-time faculty recommend appropriate number and distribution of classes.
  5. Assist as a liaison with other higher education institutions, as needed.
  6. Assist with items such as program/discipline reviews, requests and proposals for budgetary items.
  7. Conduct ongoing student outreach and recruitment through appropriate departments and programs.
  8. Recommend innovative course practices, as appropriate.
  9. At the end of each semester, the coordinator will provide a written report that details the progress and activities to the Director and Dean. The report will describe that semester’s progress on each job duty. 

Qualifications

This opportunity is open to any TMCC faculty member who meets the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Educational Counseling/related fields
  • 2 years minimum experience in Counseling Services in higher education
  • Experience in coordinating course schedules and peer evaluation

Compensation

2 credits release per semester (4 credits/year) or monetary equivalent.

Interested faculty will submit a letter of interest describing special qualifications and background information no later than 5 p.m. on June 7, 2022.

The letter should be addressed to YeVonne Allen, Executive Director of Student Life. Administrative faculty must include a documented plan for separation of the additional assignment work from regular work time.

The Executive Director of Student Life will notify applicants of the hiring decision on or before June 8, 2022 (a week from close of posting).
