ACUE Facilitator for TMCC Faculty Cohort

Per the NFA Contract, Article 10, TMCC is announcing to all eligible academic and administrative faculty that a need exists for an Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) Facilitator for the TMCC Faculty Cohort.

Description

The faculty member will play a critical role in ensuring that the course-takers successfully complete the course. You are the guide and mentor and as such, the pedagogical voice in the program assisting instructors as they learn about, implement, and reflect on teaching strategies.

Scope of Work

Fall 2019 and Spring 2020, with an estimated 30 hours per semester.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Before the Course Starts
    • Attend a one-hour onboarding session.
  • Guide:
    • Create your profile and upload a profile picture.
    • Post your introduction to the course.
    • Post a course announcement asking course-takers to do the same.
  • Orientation & First Three Weeks of the Course
    • Attend a 1-hour check-in meeting per week with the ACUE Academic Director.
    • Review all material in the weeks' modules.
  • Guide:
    • Share information about yourself and your institution during the face-to-face Course Launch.
    • Follow up with any Course-takers who missed Orientation and walk them through the online materials and answer questions.
    • Send "Welcome to the Course" email.
    • Post mid-module and module wrap-up announcements.
  • Monitor:
    • Track Course-taker Enrollment to ensure all Course-takers have accepted the invitation and have initiated work in the Course.
    • Work with ACUE to determine drop/adds during the 21-day drop/add period.
    • Monitor Practice & Reflect I reflection completion and encourage resubmissions by anyone who does not have a complete score.
  • Mentor:
    • Contribute to the discussion boards to encourage faculty's analysis and implementation of teaching strategies.
    • Share ideas, answer questions and steer course takers toward successful implementation of strategies.
  • During the Course
    • Attend a 1-hour check-in meeting per week with the ACUE Academic Director.
    • Review all materials in the weeks' modules.
  • Guide:
    • Send weekly welcome, mid-module and module wrap up announcements.
    • Review Observe & Analyze Quiz, Opening Questionnaire, and the Skills Survey results to share common ideas, questions or issues.
  • Monitor:
    • Track Course-taker progress and contact Course-takers who are falling behind to create a plan to re-engage them in the course.
    • Monitor Practice and Reflect I reflection completion and encourage initial submissions and resubmissions by anyone who does not have complete score.
  • Mentor:
    • Contribute to the discussion boards to encourage faculty's analysis and implementation of teaching strategies.
    • Share ideas, answer questions and steer Course-takers toward successful Implementation of strategies.
  • Course Wrap Up
  • Monitor:
    • Send end of course email.
    • Work with ACUE to ensure all reflections are submitted.
  • Mentor:
    • Send congratulatory email to Course-takers who completed the Course.
    • Celebrate your success!

Qualifications

  • Current tenured, tenure track or zero rank TMCC academic faculty.
  • Preferred: ACUE-Certified or equivalent pedagogical certification.

Compensation

Two credits or an equivalent stipend per semester.

Reports To

VPAA and ACUE Academic Director.

Application Process

Interested faculty will submit a letter of interest describing special qualifications and background information no later than 5 p.m. on June 13, 2019. The letter should be addressed to Dr. Marie Murgolo, Vice President of Academic of Affairs.

Selection Process

The VPAA office will notify applicants of the hiring decision on or before June 18, 2019.
