Writing Center Information
The TMCC Writing Center is a free tutoring service for students who want help at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to revising. This includes work on any writing assignment across the curriculum and in any discipline.
Our mission at The Writing Center is to create independent learners by giving you the tools and resources you need to become a better writer. We focus on the person and the process, not just the paper.
Our peer tutors focus primarily on global issues, such as content, organization and tone, and with time permitting, they will cover local issues, including grammar, punctuation and mechanics.
Our tutors can also focus on idea development, comprehension, and research for specific assignments in any course. To better help students with their writing, we offer one-on-one tutoring, drop-in tutoring, and group workshops on writing-related subjects.
Our writing workshops are one-hour group seminars that focus on specific writing topics intended to help you improve your writing.
You can register for workshops online through our scheduling system. We can accommodate up to 12 students in each workshop, which take place in the Elizabeth Sturm Library, room 106. Proof of attendance will be sent to your TMCC email address.
To view the current workshop schedule, please sign in to our appointment scheduler or stop by the Tutoring and Learning Center front desk.
