TMCC Writing Center

The TMCC Writing Center is a free tutoring service for students who want help at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and outlining to revising and editing. Our peer tutors focus primarily on global issues, such as content, organization, and tone as well as some local issues, including grammar, punctuation, and mechanics.

To schedule an appointment with a writing tutor:

  1. Log in to TMCC's Tutoring and Learning Center Scheduler
    1. From any computer with internet access, go to TMCC's Tutoring and Learning Center Scheduler and sign in using your TMCC username and password.
  2. Register and Navigate to the Correct Schedule
    • If this is the first time you have accessed the scheduling system this semester, you need to complete a registration form with your name, student ID number, and telephone number. The current schedule is called Group Review / Workshops. If you want an appointment, select “Appointment Tutoring.”
  3. Select your Class
    • Use the "Limit to" drop-down box, located at the top of the page. The system will filter the tutors and show you only the tutors able to assist with your particular subject.
  4. Find Your Appointment Time
    • Search for the time you would like to use tutoring, and click on a white box.
    • White Boxes indicate an available time slot. You may use up to three hours of tutoring a week (Monday through Saturday). Appointments are either 30 minutes or 1 hour.
    • Dark Grey Boxes indicate unavailable times slots.
    • Light Green Boxes indicate other students' appointments.
    • If you cannot find a time that fits your schedule, you can sign up to be on the waiting list. To sign up for the waiting list, click on the clock icon next to the date on the scheduler.
