Meet Our Proctors

TMCC’s proctors are charged with ensuring the integrity of every test they administer. They provide a quiet, orderly and welcoming environment for all test-takers. The proctors maintain equal opportunity during the testing process. Our proctors are vetted and trained to deliver professional, quality customer service, and to follow the best practices of the National College Testing Association.

Helen Scott; Manager, Lead Proctor
Helen was born in Michigan and moved to Reno in 2004. She started college at TMCC in 2008, earning her Associate of Applied Science in 2011, Associates of Arts in 2017, and is now currently attending the University of Nevada, Reno to earn a Bachelor’s degree in communication. Helen’s favorite class to date is American Sign Language. She started her TMCC career in the Financial Aid Office in 2008. She was hired full time in 2013 and has enjoyed proctoring ever since. She has five grandchildren who keep her busy. Her passions include gardening, cooking and making jewelry.

Jovonna Puertos Photo

Jovonna Puertos; Admin Assistant II, Jr. Lead Proctor
Jovonna was born and raised in Reno, NV. She attended TMCC HS and graduated in 2016. She is now currently attending the University of Nevada, Reno to pursue her Bachelor of Arts degree for finance. At the age of 17 she started to work at Reno City Hall as a business license technician. She worked hand-in-hand with locals, franchises across the states, and her own family. Jovonna helped her family open up their own business. She is still very knowledgeable in this area. If you have any questions about starting up your own business, ask her! She is more than happy to help. Jovonna now works full time as the supervisor for the Welcome Center and Testing Center. She also works at the NV Air National Guard as a logistics planner. Jovonna has been proctoring since 2019 and has been loving it since then. She loves to help all students and testers when they need it. Her goal is to make sure that what she does helps students/testers succeed in whatever they are trying to accomplish. Her hobbies include: backpacking, playing volleyball, watching movies, and collecting socks.

Christian Lopez Loza; Proctor
Christian was born in Reno, Nevada and graduated from Sparks High School in 2015. He has been working at TMCC for four years and has been proctoring for two years. In 2017, he graduated from TMCC with an Associate of Science in community health science. Christian is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in community health science at the University of Nevada, Reno. He enjoys meeting new people and helping students become successful. During his free time, he loves to play and watch all kinds of sports, listen to music, and eat chicken wings.

Alex Orejel Photo

Alex Orejel; Proctor
Alex was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. He attended Reed High School and graduated in 2016. He’s currently attending the University of Nevada, Reno. He is pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in community health science. Before attending UNR, he was a student at TMCC for two years. He graduated with an Associates of Science in 2019. Alex has worked at TMCC since 2016 and has been a proctor since 2019. Alex continues to love helping and engaging with students and the community.

Gwen Raubolt Photo

Gwen Raubolt; Proctor
Gwen is originally from the Cleveland, Ohio area. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin-Wallace University in Ohio in English and art history. Gwen has worked in higher education for more than 20 years. Prior to moving to Reno, she worked at Oregon Institute of Technology as the Director of Marketing and Communications. She has also worked for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, Arizona Campus as the Director of Public Relations and at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona as the Quad-City Communications Manager. Gwen has worked at TMCC as a proctor for the past two years. She is an avid reader and enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Dee Tanner

Dee Tanner; Proctor
Dee was born in Wisconsin but was raised in Iowa. She moved to Nevada in 1989 and loved it so much that she decided to stay. She graduated in 2000 with her bachelor’s in business administration. She has been working for the Nevada System of Higher Education for over 16 years. She decided to move from University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) to TMCC in 2017. When she first started working at TMCC, she worked at Admissions and Records. She moved to become a proctor in 2018. Dee loves to help all students and any non-TMCC tester. Dee’s hobbies include cooking for her family and friends.
