SGA 2024 Elections: Candidate Bios

Lisha Allison

Hello, my name is Lisha Allison. I have been a SGA senator since the beginning of 2023. I will be graduating with two associate degrees this semester; Spanish and Landscape Architecture. I plan on going into the Bachelor’s of Architecture program this upcoming fall semester. TMCC has created a place that I can call home, and I want to make sure that others can have the same positive experiences that I have had at this community college. I take great pride in TMCC, and I want to make the connections between each campus stronger. Your voice is what matters to us the most, and I’d be honored to lead the future SGA to ensure that we will always be representing you!

Sebastian DeRosier

I am a freshman in my second semester working towards my Associates degree. I spend my free time working as a youth leader in my church. As a leader, I am reliable, confident, and approachable. I can handle any task thrown at me, and I make sure that the people around me are able to do the same. Working in a group, I provide a spark of energy that leads to good bonding and even better ideas. I know I would thrive in an environment like this. Thank you for considering me.

Iarley Luna-Mercado

Hello!! I am Iarley Luna-Mercado. It's a fun name that most people have never heard before. Anyways, I'm just here pursuing my degree in Mechanical Engineering. It can sometimes be overwhelming, but it's something I want to do. Outside of school, I like playing games and have been trying to get into reading books.

I know how hard juggling school can be with life, especially when you have more responsibilities like a job or a family. So, my goal (if I were elected) would be to make student life a bit less stressful."

Destanee Cachucha

I am a first-generation college student and single mother to a beautiful daughter. I was out of school for about 5 years before I had my daughter and after she was born I knew that I had a responsibility to further my career options. I was living in Las Vegas, Nevada when I had my daughter and I went to Northwest Career College to receive two certifications in Phlebotomy and Medical Assisting. I graduated with a 3.71 GPA and loved the feeling of accomplishment. I had to study multiple subjects within the medical field and found an interest in Psychology which is what I am studying at TMCC. I hope to further my education in order to properly provide for my daughter and gain a stable position in a field that I am passionate about.

Charity Danyo

I am currently a Senator and reapplying for the senator position. I am a mother and also pursuing my associate degree in Community Health Science, Pre-nursing track major. My goal is to advocate for the welfare of TMCC students. I work well in collaborative environments and enjoy teaming up with others to achieve common goals. I am competent and can handle any challenging project I am assigned. I also believe that I am detail-oriented and take the time to examine all aspects of a problem or situation.

Brianna Mae Malasaga

In such a diverse environment like TMCC, I believe it is essential that students' voices be heard and represented. My greatest passion is helping others, and I seize every opportunity to make the world a better place. I was born in Manila, Philippines, yet I have lived in Reno, Nevada, my whole life. Coming from a first-generation Filipino immigrant family, I have been raised with the ideals of hard work and persistence in relation to improving myself and, at the same time, uplifting those around me. At TMCC, I am working on a dual Associate of Science in public health and biology. Throughout my remaining two years, I hope to create meaningful connections with those around me and make improvements toward the school that will benefit my graduating class and those to follow.

Freddie Parmenter

My name is Freddie Parmenter, I am a current TMCC High School student with a passion for leadership and communication. I have lived in Reno all my life and from an early age had a passion for public speaking and leadership; and for as long as I can remember have tried to develop those skills and passions. I have a deep appreciation for what SGA and other groups work towards, allowing for the students who make up a school to have a say in its direction. My main goal in SGA is to help progress this goal and to encourage more students to make their voices heard so TMCC can become more aligned with the vision everybody has for it.

Wendy Solorio Ramirez

My name is Wendy Solorio. I am a first-generation Hispanic student majoring in Construction Management and Architecture and Logistics Operations Management. Throughout my academic journey, I have actively participated in various leadership roles, including serving as the vice president of the Key Club and secretary of the Honor Society. I strongly believe that representation of minorities, particularly the Hispanic community, in leadership positions is crucial for driving positive change. As a passionate advocate for my people, I am dedicated to making a difference and creating opportunities for the Hispanic community and other communities at school.
