Title IV: What is Regular and Substantive Interaction in Online Classrooms?

This one-week workshop will summarize the history of Title IV and the numerous amendments made to the Higher Education Act (HEA), all of which have led to how we define “regular and substantive interaction” in distance education. Workshop participants will also review the characteristics of regular and substantive interaction, per Title IV, as well as identify ways to effectively promote these interactions in an online classroom. During this workshop, participants will: 1) Summarize the history of Title IV funds as well as the path to defining regular and substantive interaction; 2) Review characteristics of regular and substantive interaction, per Title IV; and 3) Identify ways to promote regular and substantive interaction in an online classroom. Upon the successful completion of all learning activities, faculty completing this training for the first time will receive a $50 stipend. Proctoring 101

The presentation will cover the administration of academic and placement exams in the Testing Center and how to prepare your students for proctored exams. There will be detailed instructions on how to complete a Proctoring Request form. The capabilities and limitations of the Testing Center in administering academic exams will be covered as will Testing Center standards and rules. You will leave with the necessary information on Proctoring requests, what to expect when submitting paper exams and policies related to notes, calculators and other materials.

Creating Accessible Content

This 4 week online course provides a foundation for creating content that is universally designed and inclusive of all learners. An overview of assistive technologies is included, along with multimedia demonstrations of their use in online courses. The basic principles covered in this course can be applied to any Learning Management System and content uploaded into them using external software tools. A $150 stipend will be issued upon successful completion.Dates: Feb. 13–March 11, 2023.

WebCollege Webinar: Clear Expectations and Active Learning Interactions

Pre-registration is required for this session. Tips & Tricks to Online Course Design: Creating a Road Map

A two-week professional development opportunity that will offer information, practice opportunities, and resources that will assist in designing an online course. This workshop will discuss the concept of alignment and offer an overview of critical online course components, as well as provide some tools and templates for ensuring that these components are well-aligned. Upon the successful completion of all learning activities, faculty completing this training for the first time will receive a $150 stipend. The facilitator will contact registrants with access information.
After this workshop, participants will be able to: 1) Outline critical course components and apply the concept of alignment when designing online instruction, and 2) Employ and manipulate customizable tools and templates that will help with the process of alignment and online course design.
