TMCC FactBook 2017

Truckee Meadows Community College FactBook 2017 20th Edition Page SP-1 Institutional Research, Analysis, and Effectiveness Office Degrees Conferred: Each academic year the number of degrees and certificates earned by TMCC students are reported by program and emphasis. Within an academic year, students may graduate in the Summer, Fall, or Spring terms. Degree Types: In general, degrees and certificates can be broken down into two categories, transfer degrees or vocationally oriented degrees. At TMCC, the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science are considered transfer degrees, while the Associate of Applied Science and Certificate of Achievement are considered vocational degrees. The Associate of General Studies degree can either be a transfer degree or a terminal degree. In Fall 2013, TMCC began awarding Skills Certificates. These credentials are less than 30 credits in length, and result in an industry- recognized credential. Student characteristics and demographics, such as age, ethnicity, and gender, as well as enrollment status, degrees conferred, and more, can be found in this chapter of FactBook 2017. DEFINITIONS: Enrollment Status: All students at TMCC are classified as continuing students, new transfer students, or new college students (first-time students). Students taking courses for credit at TMCC while still in High School will be classified as either new high school students (during their first term attending) or continuing high school students (during subsequent terms). Once a student has graduated from high school, they are classifed as a 'new student' if they subsequently enroll at TMCC. End of Term Headcount: The demographic characteristics of students depicted in this section are based upon headcounts taken at the end of each semester. Also, all figures represent student enrollment in state supported courses. William N Pennington Applied Technology Center
