Explore blooming displays around Kirkland Mountain Resort, Winnemucca Lake and Red Peak Lake. Enjoy the peak bloom of the season and gain expert insight on flower identification techniques, life zones and plant adaptations, as well as pollination ecology for our area. This course provides two lectures and three hikes. Lectures: 7/13 W 6 - 8 p.m. AND 8/3 W 6 - 8 p.m. Field Trips: 7/16 S 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. AND 7/23 S 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. AND 7/30 S 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Blackwell TMCC Meadowood Center 324 $129 Wilderness Survival Training and Camping Gain a four-season perspective on getting the most enjoyment out of your outdoor adventures by being prepared for potential emergencies. Discover how to survive adverse conditions in the mountains and desert, in the snow, water, or the summer heat. Extra attention will be given to our summertime climate dealing with heat, low humidity and limited water sources. During the lecture, become comfortable with basic survival tactics from a seasoned outdoorsman and a USMC colonel who ran the Marine Mountain Survival Center. Find out about food, water and what you should bring with you when you head out into nature. Then, go outdoors and practice building shelters and fires. Discuss the basics of painting with acrylics and how you can use a closeup photo of your pet as an easy reference. Learn from a veterinarian how you may be able to save your pet’s life. Be prepared for the worst by learning how to spot problems and quickly respond to them. Discuss how to stock an effective first aid kit and how to handle allergic reactions, fights, poisoning, travel and trail mishaps, as well as everyday occurrences. Become comfortable treating wounds, stopping bleeding, and administering medication. Better detect health issues by learning how to track your pet’s vitals and gain expert advice on managing potential aches and pains. Learn and practice CPR on a canine dummy. 6/9-6/16 TH 6 - 9 p.m. Warley TMCC Meadowood Center 320 $89 Dog Massage Help your dog or cat feel their very best by learning how to give them a relaxation massage. Discover how massage differs from petting and how it can benefit your furred family member. Discuss when it is appropriate to give a massage and how to recognize symptoms that require veterinary attention. Watch demonstrations of various strokes and stretches and then practice on a stuffed animal you bring to class. Unleash the artist inside you through this software. Through understanding this program’s digital computer palette, unlock the images held captive inside your camera and jazz them up to create eye-popping photos. Learn how to use this software’s wide array of features, including Organizer and Editor. Gain great tips on how to organize them on your computer so that you can find them easily and put them into albums to share. We will discuss equipment and accessories to help get that perfect shot. Learn lighting and posing techniques that will bring out the personality of your flower subject.
