TMCC Dealing with Disruptive Students Manual

TMCC  Dealing with Disruptive Students Page | 2 January 6, 2017 TMCC is an EEO/AA institution. See http://eeo.tmcc.edu for more information. STATEMENT OF ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS In choosing TMCC, students become part of our community of scholars. We recognize that the TMCC learning experience is challenging and requires hard work. It also requires a commitment to make time available to do that hard work. The college expects students to make academics their highest priority by dedicating the time and energy to train their minds and acquire knowledge. Academic success in critical thinking and problem solving prepares students for the changes and challenges they will encounter in the future. As a faculty member, you are key to creating a learning environment that promotes academic success. Faculty and academic support resources are readily available as partners in this effort, but the primary responsibility for learning is the students. In an effort to uphold the academic expectations of Truckee Meadows Community College, this brochure was developed. This brochure is designed to provide TMCC’s faculty with appropriate, effective, and legally sound policies and procedures for dealing with disruptive student behavior, especially that which occurs in the classroom.
