Students in Transition Education Award
Agency:
Assistance League of Reno/Sparks
Description:
This scholarship program was developed with Washoe County School District’s (WCSD) Children in Transition students in mind. The goal is to promote positive outcomes and opportunities for students who may have none at all.
The scholarship focuses on providing high school graduates the opportunity to enroll in higher education certification programs while gaining the necessary skills to improve employment opportunities. (Specific requirements listed below.)
Assistance League of Reno-Sparks partners with WCSD Children in Transition (CIT) program and TMCC EPIC (Educational Programs Inspiring the Community). Our partnerships do not restrict the applicant from entering another accredited vocational or technical training school located in Washoe County.
Scholarships are awarded on both need-based and/or merit-based evaluations. The applicant may not be a chapter member, the relative of a chapter member, an Assistants® member, or an employee of the Assistance League of Reno-Sparks. Selected candidates are supported for the duration of their program of study as long as transcripts submitted each semester indicate satisfactory progress toward a degree or certificate. Funds are dispersed directly to TMCC for tuition, books and materials.

These awards focus specifically on TMCC AA degree programs, skills and achievement certificate programs for students who are former CIT students and/or PELL eligible as determined by FAFSA.
