Most legitimate scholarship search engines and applications are free and should not ask for personal information such as a social security number, credit card number or banking information.

Description:
$1,500 awarded yearly to selected candidate.
Two-hundred-word essay maximum, explaining yourself and career objectives.
The candidate that is awarded the scholarship will send a digital photo of themselves suitable for framing.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for this $1,500 scholarship applicant must be at least a part-time student taking 6 credits enrolled into either Truckee Meadows Community College or the University of Nevada, Reno.
The student must be majoring in earth science (including geology, geophysics, environmental science, seismology and other specialties in the field).
Applications pursuing a minor degree in earth science will also be considered. STEM majors will also be considered if there is a shortage of applicants.
A 3.0 GPA is required.
