Student Employment Classifications and Wage Rates

Note: It is recommended that a wage premium of $0.50 per hour be paid for frequent use of bilingual skills in the workplace.

Division I: Labor and Attendant Positions
Class Pay Scale Duties
A $8.25–$8.75 Simple attendant duties. Little responsibility. Minimum work involvement.
B $8.25–$9.00 Simple attendant duties. Added responsibility and work involvement.
C $9.00–$10.00 Unskilled labor. Some exertion required, but no strenuous activity. Responsibility in some cases.
D $10.00–$11.00 Skilled labor. More exertion than Class C. Strenuous activity, responsibility. 
Sample Division I Positions
Child Care Auxilliary Services, Groundskeeper, Maintenance Assistant, Custodian, Print Shop Runner, Dishwasher, Key Runner, Mail Carrier, Furniture Mover, Stage Crew, Stock Crew, Receptionist, Room Monitor
Division II: Clerical/Administrative Support
Class Pay Scale Duties
A $8.25 Simple clerical tasks, unskilled work. Requires supervision by classified or other more responsible student personnel.

B

$8.25–$9.00  Clerical assistant. Added responsibility, less supervision.
C $9.00–$10.00  Skilled clerical assistant, with experience. Little supervision needed.
D $10.00–$11.00  Highly skilled clerical assistant, with experience. Little or no supervision needed.
Sample Division II Positions
Cashier, Cataloger, Accounting Assistant, Office Assistant, Bookkeeper, Library Assistant, Data Entry Person, Word Processor, Typist, Administrative Assistant, Child Care Office Assistant, Student Employment Assistant
Division III: Instructional Support
Class Pay Scale Duties
A $8.25–$9.00  Assists instructors. Works under supervision.
B $9.00–$10.00  Assists instructors and performs classroom duties. May work independently.
C $10.00–$11.00  Highly skilled assistant with experience. Makes decisions, little or no supervision required.
D $11.00–$12.00  Advanced knowledge in discipline required. Works independently. May supervise other students.

Teacher Aid, Orientation, Faculty Assistant, Lab Proctor, Research Assistant, Grader, Tutor, Assistant Child Care Teacher, Other
Division IV: Technical Support
Class Pay Scale Duties
A $8.25–$9.50  Minimal technical knowledge and responsibility required. Works under supervision.
B $9.50–$11.00  More technical knowledge required. Added responsibility, less supervision.
C $11.00–$12.50  Highly skilled technical abilities. Makes decisions, little or no supervision required.
D $12.50–$15.00  Advanced technical knowledge required. Works independently. May supervise other students.
