Mission
The mission of the TMCC AI and Emerging Technologies committee is to explore, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative processes. Our goal is to empower faculty, staff, and students with cutting-edge tools and knowledge, ensuring that the college remains at the forefront of technological advancement in higher education. Through collaboration, ethical consideration, and continuous professional development, we strive to create an inclusive, forward-thinking environment that prepares TMCC for the challenges and opportunities of the digital future.
About the Committee
The TMCC AI and Emerging Technologies acts as a recommending body for the strategic direction of AI initiatives on our campuses. We are made up of 15 voting members from all areas of TMCC, including every academic division and all major administrative areas. Our meetings are open to all interested parties, and we have an additional 15 non-voting members who regularly attend.
Objectives
The objectives and goals of the AI and Emerging Technologies Committee are:
- Draft and recommend policies that ensure the ethical and effective use of AI and other new technologies in teaching, learning, and campus operations in conjunction with respective stakeholders
- Offer professional development opportunities, workshops, training sessions, and hands-on experiences to equip faculty, staff, and administrators with the skills to integrate emerging technologies into their work.
- Research and evaluate new tools, platforms, and systems, focusing on enhancing the student experience and the college's operational efficiency.
- Partner with academic and administrative departments to ensure a holistic approach to technology adoption that aligns with the college’s mission and goals.
- Address the ethical, privacy and legal aspects of AI and technology use to maintain trust and transparency within the college community.
