Editorial Policy

Academic freedom in teaching and the right of freedom of speech for faculty, staff and students are fundamental principles of the college. TMCC Web publishing policies do not limit or remove the right of free speech. Although TMCC believes that the principles of free speech and academic freedom extend to electronic communication, the college is not obligated to publish or provide links to documents that are deemed to be inappropriate for display on the Web.

Reasons that content might be deemed inappropriate for the Web include: providing copyrighted or trademarked materials without written authorization, using obscene or offensive material, violating elements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, receiving compensation for providing material by any party not entitled to use college resources, and incorporating banner advertising for promotion of for-profit entities.

TMCC reserves the right to control its resources, including but not limited to denying space on college-supported servers. Publication of any content on TMCC's website must be consistent with the rules, policies and procedures and mission of the college, as well as applicable state and federal laws.
