TMCC Art Program

TMCC offers a variety of courses in studio art, art history and art appreciation. Most studio art classes are available at the introductory and the intermediate levels. We teach art and design fundamentals, color theory, drawing, painting, water color, ceramics, sculpture and photography, as well as jewelry making.

All instructors and professors, both full time and part time, bring hands-on experience to the classroom, introducing their students to Northern Nevada's fine arts community. Many art students at TMCC take studio art courses for personal growth while others pursue a degree or certificate. Many art classes contain mature material.

In art history, we offer art appreciation for non-majors in addition to more intensive courses in art history, women in art, contemporary art and special topics for majors.

In its three galleries, TMCC provides the opportunity for visual artists working in diverse styles and genres to exhibit their work and to allow students and the community to view and appreciate current work. Once a year in the spring, the gallery sponsors the juried student art show where students enrolled in art courses may exhibit samples of their work and compete for prizes.
