Visual and Performing Arts

The Visual and Performing Arts department offers a wide variety of courses in art, dance, music and theater with featured programs in graphic communications, music, theater and visual arts.

Art courses are offered at introductory and intermediate levels in studio art, art history and art appreciation. TMCC has several galleries where visual artists display their work, including the Student Gallery on the third floor of our Red Mountain Building. In its three galleries, TMCC provides the opportunity for visual artists working in diverse styles and genres to exhibit their work and to allow students and the community to view and appreciate current work.

The Visual Communications program offers courses in commercial art, graphic design, advertising design, publication design, graphic arts, and multimedia.

The Graphics Communications (GRC) program has the latest up to date Apple Software, along with support scanners, black and white and color printers, a sound booth for creating and capturing audio, and a complete pre-press/print shop facility. This program teaches students the necessary tools to get a job in the field of their desire.

TMCC's Music department offers performance ensembles, musical opportunities, and private lessons. These ensembles and opportunities are open to TMCC students, UNR students, community members and high school students.

Theater is an active and creative department that thrives on TMCC's campus. Students engage in a different type of learning while producing 4 to 5 different shows each year. These performances can provide students help with their communications and performance skills. All performances are open to the Reno community and give the students an opportunity to show off their hard work.
