ACCUPLACER: Math Placement Information

There are two ways to test into a mathematics course at TMCC:

1. ACT/SAT scores.
2. ACCUPLACER testing. If students do not have ACT/SAT scores, or wish to challenge their ACT/SAT scores they can take the ACCUPLACER placement test offered by TMCC Testing Services. Please note that the ACCUPLACER placement test is for initial placement only. Once a student has enrolled in and starts a mathematics course, only successful completion of the class will permit the student to enroll in the next course in the mathematics series.

The TMCC mathematics department reserves the right to change the ACCUPLACER cut-off scores on short notice.

The most up-to-date scores are listed below.

The mathematics cut-off scores in the table above will be used to place TMCC students in summer 2009 math classes and subsequent math classes.

• Students scoring 20 to 29 on the ARITHMETIC TEST qualify for Math 091.
• Students scoring above 30 on the ARITHMETIC TEST qualify for Math 093.
• Students scoring 45 to 75 on the ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA test qualify for Math 095.
• Students scoring 76 or above on the ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA test qualify for Math 096.
• Students scoring 50 or above on the COLLEGE LEVEL MATHEMATICS test qualify for Math 120.
• Students scoring 60 or above on the COLLEGE LEVEL MATHEMATICS test qualify for Math 126 (also for Math 120).
• Students scoring 70 or above on the COLLEGE LEVEL MATHEMATICS test qualify for Math 152 and Math 128 (also for Math 120 and Math 126).
• Students scoring 84 or above on the COLLEGE LEVEL MATHEMATICS test qualify for Math 176 (also for Math 120, Math 152, Math 126 Math 127, and Math 128).
• Students scoring 101 or above on the COLLEGE LEVEL MATHEMATICS test qualify for Math 181 (also for Math 120, Math 152, Math 126, Math 127, Math 128 and Math 176).
