Testing Center

New: Testing Services will have limited seating available on Thursday May 2, Tuesday May 7 and Wednesday May 8 due to specialized testing. Students are still welcome to test on these days.

Welcome to the testing center at Truckee Meadows Community College. The mission of the testing center is to provide a stress-free testing environment for members of the college community to take a wide variety of exams including: academic placement exams, GED, CLEP/college credit exams, TMCC department program exams such as CNA and HESI, as well as proctored exams for non-TMCC classes. A valid government issued photo id is required for all exams.

For your convenience, students are now able to pay and register for their HESI exam using TouchNet Service. If you have a question using TouchNet please contact Howard Craig. Students are still welcome to come in person to register and pay for their HESI exam.

Academic placement testing (ACCUPLACER) is a required enrollment step for new, degree-seeking students. All students are encouraged to take this test to ensure that with the help of an adviser they register for the correct classes.

Course placement for the ACCUPLACER placement exam for TMCC students will be determined by the highest valid score within the past twenty-four month period. NOTE: TMCC reserves the right to change course placement scores. ACCUPLACER test scores take up to three business days post to student accounts. Students will not be able to register for classes that have ACCUPLACER scores as prerequisites until scores are posted. After completing the exam, students will receive a score report that contains basic information to help them interpret their course placement for math and English classes. All exam sections (except of the WritePlacer Plus) are scored on a scale of 20-120. ACCUPLACER placement charts are also available to assist students in identify appropriate course placements. New degree-seeking students will need to attend new student orientation to help ensure a smooth transition into their first semester.

If you are a student with a documented disability and would like to receive accommodations for the ACCUPLACER/Placement test, please schedule an appointment with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) to present your documentation before you take the ACCUPLACER/Placement test. Contact DRC to make an appointment.

Testing Services staff includes two full-time assessment technicians and several part-time testing assistants. All of the staff members will be happy to assist you with your testing needs. TMCC Testing Services subscribes to the National College Testing Association professional standards and guidelines. Testing Services also conforms to the privacy restrictions set forth in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

TMCC's testing services is open year-round except for the winter break.
