Welcome to the Testing Services department at Truckee Meadows Community College.
Mission
The mission of the Testing Services department is to provide a stress-free testing environment and adhere to established protocols of the National College Testing Association. We offer proctoring and testing services for members of the college community to take a wide variety of exams, including: academic placement exams (ACCUPLACER), GED, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Computerized Adaptive Placement Exam (CAPE), TMCC department program exams such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Health Education System, Inc. (HESI), as well as proctored exams for non-TMCC classes.
Note: a valid government issued photo id is required for all exams.
ACCUPLACER
The academic placement exam (ACCUPLACER) is a required enrollment step for new degree seeking students. Additionally, new degree seeking students will need to attend a New Student Workshop to help ensure a smooth transition into their first semester.
The highest valid score within the past twenty-four month period will determine course placement for students on their ACCUPLACER placement exam. TMCC's English and math departments determine the ACCUPLACER cut score information for new and continuing students. Please see the respective English and math departments for placement information. TMCC reserves the right to change course placement scores.
ACCUPLACER scores may take up to three business days to post to students' MyTMCC accounts. Students will not be able to register for classes until ACCUPLACER scores are reflected on their MyTMCC account.
After completing the exam, students will receive a score report with basic information to help them interpret their course placement for math and English classes. The score range for all exam sections (except WritePlacer Plus) is 20-120; WritePlacer Plus score range is 0-8.
HESI Exam Payment
For your convenience, students are now able to register and pay for their HESI exam using TouchNet Service. If you have a question regarding use of TouchNet, please contact Howard Craig in Testing Services. Students are also welcome to register and pay for their HESI exam in person.
Accommodations for Documented Disabilities
If you are a student with a documented disability and would like to receive accommodations for the ACCUPLACER/Placement test, please schedule an appointment with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) to present your documentation before you take the ACCUPLACER/Placement test. Contact DRC to make an appointment.
