College Tech Prep

If you are a high school student, you can earn college credit when you enroll in and successfully complete a Tech Prep articulated course. You will save money and time by participating in this program. You do not have to pay fees for the college credits that you earn through Tech Prep classes.

Tech Prep approved courses are high school classes taught to high school students at the high schools by high school teachers. The courses are offered at all Washoe County School District comprehensive high schools, the Academy of Arts, Career and Technology, ACE Charter High School, I Can Do Anything Charter High School, Carson City High School, Elko County School District, Battle Mountain High School, Lowry High School, Dayton High School, Douglas High School, Yerington High School and Sierra Nevada Job Corps.

To earn college credit, you must complete a TMCC Tech Prep application for admission by the published deadline and earn an "A" or "B" in your articulated class.

College Credit for High School Classes

What is required from you?

  • Be an eligible student in an articulated high school class
  • Complete the Tech Prep application
  • Get the application signed by your parent and give it to your teacher

Who is an eligible student?

  • Any junior or senior enrolled in an articulated high school class
  • If you are a freshman or sophomore enrolled in an articulated class, you may earn the Tech Prep credit(s) after you complete the junior or senior level of the program of study for the articulated course. Contact the TMCC Tech Prep office for a more details.

Who teaches the courses and where?

  • Courses are taught at the high school by high school instructors
