Welcome to the TMCC Skills Center

The TMCC Skills Center is a self-paced learning environment where students can develop the skills to place into Math 95 and Math 96. The Skills Center provides Web-based and/or text-based education, supplemented by lectures and special assistance from math instructors assigned to the Skills Center.

What is Required of Skills Center Students?

  • Students are required to attend a weekly, 10 minute meeting with their assigned instructor.
  • In addition to weekly meetings, students should plan on working with the online program at least 10 hours per week to be successful (15-25/hours per week for students attending Summer or Winter Session).

Location and Hours

Location: The Skills Center is located at the TMCC Dandini campus, Red Mountain Bldg., room 124.

Hours

Fall 2014 (beginning August 24)
Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

What does it cost?

Students pay for three credits plus the cost of additional materials, if necessary. The internet-based ALEKS computer program is also highly recommended. Please note that Skills Center classes are not eligible for financial aid.

How do I enroll?

Online enrollment is available through MyTMCC.

  • Sign in to MyTMCC and click on "Student Center" then click on "Search" or "Search for Classes"
  • Enter the term you are registering for, then enter SKC for course subject, and click on "Search"
  • Search results will display SKC 80 and SKC 85; it is important that you add both classes into your shopping cart at the same time to complete enrollment. Do not enter the classes separately.
  • Once registered, you are required to set up an appointment for a Skills Center Orientation that will take place the first week of class. The online scheduler will be available Aug. 4-22, 2014. After these dates, you must visit the Skills Center in person. NOTE: if you do not attend the first week orientation you will be dropped from the course.
