Welcome to the TMCC Skills Center

The TMCC Skills Center is a self-paced learning environment where students can develop the skills to place into Math 95, Math 96 and Math 120/126. The Skills Center provides Web-based and/or text-based education, supplemented by assistance from math instructors assigned to the Skills Center.

What is Required of Skills Center Students?

  • Students are required to attend a weekly meeting with their assigned instructor.
  • In addition to weekly meetings, students should plan on working with the online program at least 10 hours per week to be successful (15-25/hours per week for students attending Summer or Winter Session).

Location: The Skills Center is located at the TMCC Dandini campus, Red Mountain Bldg., room 124.

What does it cost?

Students pay for three credits plus the cost of additional materials, if necessary. The internet-based ALEKS computer program is used for this course. Please note that Skills Center classes are not eligible for financial aid.

How do I enroll?

Online enrollment is available through MyTMCC.

  • Sign in to MyTMCC and click on "Student Center" then click on "Search" or "Search for Classes"
  • Enter the term you are registering for, then enter SKC for course subject, and click on "Search"
  • Search results will display SKC 80 and SKC 85; it is important that you add both classes into your shopping cart at the same time to complete enrollment. Do not enter the classes separately.

Once registered, if you are enrolled in Spring, Summer or Fall you are required to set up an appointment for a Skills Center Orientation. Summer students are required to attend orientation on the first day of class. Winter students do not attend orientation, but must attend the first day of class.

The online scheduler will be open on the following schedule:

  • Spring, Summer & Fall: Three weeks prior to the first week of class. See class schedule for specific dates.
  • Winter: Not Available. Winter students must attend the first day of class.
