SGA Senate

The SGA Senate is elected every semester by the student body or is appointed by the current SGA Senate.

The SGA Senate provides a variety of programs and activities for students. In addition, the SGA Senate makes recommendations and contributes opinions and information to the college administration, the Nevada System of Higher Education, and Board of Regents regarding student concerns. The SGA Senate also oversees and provides support to all recognized TMCC Student Clubs/Organizations.

The SGA Senate consists:

  • Four Executive Officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary)
  • Five Senators representing each of the TMCC Academic Divisions:
    • Applied Industrial Technology Division
    • Business Division
    • Liberal Arts Division
    • Sciences Division
    • Web College Division
  • Two Senators representing SGA Clubs and Organizations and SGA Activities

The Executive Officers and the Senators are elected or appointed as vacancies arise. The SGA Senate possesses the power, authority and duties that are outlined within the SGA Constitution and Bylaws, and its practices will be regulated by the procedures that are set forth in the SGA Policy and Procedures Manual and the TMCC College Catalog.

The SGA Senate members are responsible for:

  • Attending all SGA Senate and committee meetings.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback and/or revisions for all SGA Senate and committee minutes.
  • Attending all assigned campus committee and review panel meetings.
  • Reporting to the SGA Senate all relevant issues affecting the student government and TMCC.
  • Participating in co-curricular campus events and activities sponsored by the SGA and the recognized student clubs and organizations of TMCC.

SGA Senate meetings are conducted in accordance with Nevada Open Meeting Law, and all TMCC students and guests are welcome to attend. All meetings take place in RDMT 122 unless otherwise noted.

Process for Submitting Agenda Items

Please send an email to the SGA Secretary at least seven business days prior to the scheduled meeting date. Please include any reference material or supporting documentation with your request.
