What criteria are used to determine membership at TMCC? back to top

There are three qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at TMCC.
  • Complete a minimum of 12 credit units in level 100 or higher courses at TMCC. (Transfer credits do not apply.)
  • Grade Point Average of 3.4 or higher (4.0 scale), adhere to the school conduct code and possess recognized qualities of citizenship.

When are the membership applications due? back to top

You can join at any time of the year. There is no deadline!

What is the term of membership? back to top

Once you join, you are an international member of Phi Theta Kappa for life! However, local membership may be terminated when a member no longer meets eligibility requirements of the ALPHA PI GAMMA chapter.

What if I change residence? back to top

Members who change their college residence shall be eligible to enroll in a new chapter of Phi Theta Kappa if they meet the standards of membership of that local chapter.

What about students who attend college in the United States but are not U.S. citizens? back to top

International students are welcome to become members. They must meet the eligibility requirements stated above, including full rights of citizenship in their country.

Can part–time students become members? back to top

Part–time students can be members as long as they have met the eligibility requirements stated above.

Are students who are enrolled in associate degree programs eligible if they do not plan to complete their associate degree? back to top

A member is not required to receive an associate degree, as long as he or she met the eligibility requirements listed above.

Is participation a requirement? back to top

Participation in chapter activities is not a requirement for membership although it is encouraged. We want you to get the most out of being a member of PTK!
