In this session you will learn the basic features of Canvas including, Global navigation, Preferences, and General Course Navigation. Most PDF files begin as Word documents. This class is recommended for all TMCC web content providers who post PDF documents and forms to our website. This workshop will cover Microsoft Word styles, meta data, tables, tips and recommendations for building well-structured TMCC branded documents and forms that will then be converted into PDF files and fillable forms for the Web. Note: This class is part 1 of a 2 part series. Part 2 will cover how to create a fillable PDF form your branded Word files.

This workshop will explain the revised disability complaints procedures, including the complaint process, timesframes, and investigation requirements; specify individual employees' responsibilities; provide examples of disability discrimination; provide examples of appropriate remedies for disability discrimination; provide an example of how to notify parties of the outcome of a complaint without disclosing confidential student or employee information; and identify a contact person if, subsequent to the training, there are any questions or concerns.

This workshop provides members of the campus community the opportunity to increase their cultural awareness and openness to issues facing those of the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) community. It includes interactive exercises that explore individual views; has some lecture presentation to dispel myths surrounding GLBT individuals; and gives time for reflection and best practices in working to create a safe space in the classroom, in offices, and in the social areas on campus.

Why should YOU attend? Nevada has the 4th highest rate of suicide in the US (nearly double the national rate). Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for Nevada students ages 15-24. Students reach out for help through writing assignments, comments to instructors and fellow students, and actions (not attending class or shifts in behavior). Each suicide leaves at least six to eight bereaved family and friends. Discussing suicide does NOT cause someone to die by suicide.
