PIO TMCC Overview

In 1969, the community college system was established by the Nevada State Legislature. In 1971, Governor Mike O'Callaghan dedicated Western Nevada Community College as one of three community colleges in the Community College Division of the Nevada System of Higher Education. In 1978, the Board of Regents split Western Nevada Community College and established Truckee Meadows Community College. TMCC became the fourth community college within the Nevada System of Higher Education.

TMCC offers more than 50 associate degree and certificate programs in a wide variety of academic and occupational programs, from automotive technician to computer networking to nursing. Classes are scheduled throughout the week and weekend, practically year-round, between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., allowing flexibility in today's busy schedules.

TMCC offers classes at four sites and more than 40 different locations in the Truckee Meadows area, giving students easy access to instruction. Tuition for Nevada residents is among the lowest in the western United States.
