Cable Television Programming

Truckee Meadows Community College provides programming for cable television through the Truckee Meadows Learning Channel (TMLC) on Charter digital cable channel 200. TMCC and the Washoe County School District are broadcast operational partners in the TMLC, which Charter Communications designated for educational use in Washoe County.

Policies for Broadcast Content on Channel 200

  1. Per the agreement with Charter Communications, Channel 200 will air educational programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Paid advertisements and on-air fundraising are not allowed.
  2. Agencies that wish to air programming on Channel 200 must follow the TMCC and WCSD production procedures.
  3. Programs that are a conflict of interest for either TMCC or WCSD will not be aired.
  4. TMCC and/or WCSD will review all content prior to airing to ensure that TMCC and WCSD standards for quality instruction are upheld. If approved, the agency will agree to at least one of the following partnership options.
    1. Incorporate the TMCC or WCSD logo on program-related promotional publications and the agency's website, and include TMCC or WCSD in the agency's program-related promotional events.
    2. Underwrite the cost of broadcast production of programming on shared issues.
  5. Agencies may incorporate Public Service Announcements as an introduction to or closing statement in an educational program, but may not submit PSAs for airing as stand-alone promotions. TMCC and/or WCSD must approve all public service announcement content prior to airing.
  6. TMCC and WCSD do not provide production services for other agencies unless agreed upon under separate contract. Final approved video will be delivered to the TMCC Public Information Office in BetaCam SP format.

Procedures for Submissions

TMCC Departments and Divisions

  1. Submit audio and video concepts prior to production to the TMCC Public Information Office (Word format preferred). Once approved, production will commence.
  2. PIO will review the final audio and video content of all programming prior to airing on Channel 200, including, but not limited to, public service shows, public service announcements and readerboard content.
  3. PIO and Media Services department will produce all TMCC content.

External Agencies

  1. Follow the TMCC Channel 200 policies for submission.
