TMCC Lighter than Air Vehicle Competition

Truckee Meadows Community College will host a lighter than air (LTA) vehicle competition on April 12, 11 a.m. at the Dandini Campus. This event is sponsored by the Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium.

In this event, each team will design, build and fly radio-controlled lighter than air (LTA) vehicles and compete in "fastest-time" trials. Each member of the first-place team will win a TMCC scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Spring 2012 Competition

Eligibility

  • All TMCC students are eligible.
  • Teams must have 3 to 6 members.
  • All team members must be current TMCC students (6 credits or more).

April 12, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the TMCC Dandini Campus in the V. James Eardley Student Center.

Open Lab

Starting February 10, an optional open lab will be available in RDMT 320 every Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and every Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Teams may use the open lab as a meeting space to design and build their vehicles. Mentors will also be available to answer questions and provide advice and assistance. In addition, teams are strongly encouraged to use open lab times to test their vehicles in stages.
