TMCC introduces WebCollege FastTrack Online Degree Program
In order to expand educational opportunities to local residents looking to grow and enhance work skills, Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) developed the WebCollege FastTrack Online Degree Program. The online program aims to help working students seeking career advancement or career change, the unemployed, veterans and those aged between 25 and 62, earn an associate degree of applied science (AAS) in criminal justice and/or business in two years or less.
“We created FastTrack to ensure that all people interested in receiving a higher education could do so, regardless of time restrictions caused by things such as demanding work schedules,” said Fred Lokken, associate dean of the web college at TMCC. “The program is flexible which allows students to work while acquiring the skills needed to advance in their current positions or change their career path entirely. With FastTrack, individuals can receive a college education on their own time and at their own pace.”
The program’s flexibility allows each individual to customize their education in congruence with their day-to-day responsibilities. Classes are offered every five weeks with students taking one class at a time. However, TMCC also gives students the option to “fast track” and take two classes every five weeks. Students who “fast track” their education have the ability to earn an associate degree of applied science in one year.
In addition to the convenience of the FastTrack Online Degree Program, the cost of tuition is less than other comparable five-week courses offered by private colleges and universities. All courses offered through the program adhere to national standards and include personalized interaction and support.
