Students from the Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) graphic communications (GRC) program have produced a 60-second animated commercial to highlight some of the college’s programs at its Applied Technology Center. The commercial features both animation and live-action footage that show how TMCC’s programs can help stimulate Nevada’s workforce and economy. In addition to creating awareness about the variety of training programs offered at TMCC, the commercial demonstrates the real-life work students produce while earning their education.
“This commercial shows the community what TMCC offers for students and the state of Nevada,” said Brian Wells, a professor in the GRC program and the director of the commercial. “It’s a win for everybody because the students get to create real work, the community gets to see the great things TMCC has to offer and the Nevada economy gets the benefit of having educated workers coming from the programs.”
With help from Wells, GRC students Reese Keefe, Justin Hubert and Janine Gubuan created the commercial from start to finish, including storyboarding, character layout, animation and audio. The students auditioned TMCC theater department actors to play the characters and recorded the audio with Michael Eardley of Tanglewood Productions in Reno.
The commercial began airing April 8, and will run through April 28 on Charter Cable channels and KAME. To see the commercial, visit http://www.tmcc.edu/video/index.php?VidID=552.
